We are delighted to bring you the most recent updates on TÜRKPATENT’s efforts to promote alternative dispute resolution mechanisms in industrial property disputes in cooperation with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
On July 10, 2023, a momentous event took place in Geneva, Switzerland, where a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between TÜRKPATENT and WIPO. The MoU aims to enhance the dissemination of alternative solutions in intellectual property disputes, marking a significant step forward in the field of global intellectual property rights.
The ceremony included a productive bilateral meeting between the Turkish delegation, headed by Prof. Dr. Ahmet Yozgatlıgil, the Deputy Minister of Industry and Technology, and the WIPO delegation, led by General Director Daren Tang. This meeting provided a valuable platform for both parties to discuss ongoing collaborative efforts and explore potential avenues for future cooperation.
Further highlighting TÜRKPATENT’s commitment to fostering international partnerships, President Cemil Başpınar actively participated in the 64th WIPO General Assembly held from July 6 to July 14, 2023. On the first day of the assembly, Mr. Başpınar delivered a country statement, shedding light on the recent advancements in intellectual and industrial property rights in Turkey.
Throughout the General Assembly, the Turkish delegation engaged in fruitful bilateral meetings with representatives from 14 countries and international organizations. Notably, TÜRKPATENT established collaboration protocols with the United States, Moldova, and Tajikistan’s national intellectual property offices, strengthening cooperation in the field of intellectual property rights between these nations.
